Ugandan Bird Tally

Ugandan Bird Tally Series – A series of 3 stripe paintings based on the colour plumage of birds, observed after a trip to Uganda. East Africa has a rich and varied wildlife with often several varieties of the same bird species.

Four Kingfishers 2011, represents the colours of four different types of Kingfisher seen in the region. These include the Pied Kingfisher; Grey-headed Kingfisher; Woodland Kingfisher and the Malachite Kingfisher.

Four Bee-eaters 2011, represents the Little Bee-eater; Cinnamon-chested Bee-eater; Red-throated Bee-eater and the Carmine Bee-eater.

Four Sunbirds 2011, represents Hunter’s Sunbird; Red-chested Sunbird; Purple-breasted Sunbird and Bronze Sunbird.
